Your Preferred Form of Exercise: I prefer running and body weight training
Health and Fitness Accomplishment you are Proud of since becoming a mom or when you were a mom-to-be: I started to take running to a whole new level once by second son was in kindergarten. I now had extra time for myself that allowed me to train for long distance runs. I would run almost daily and spend two days a week with my trainer working on strength. I ran two half marathons and one full marathon before having my third son. During my pregnancy with Luke I focused on eating healthy and walking at least three miles five times a week. My birth experience was absolutely wonderful and the best one out of the three! I was able to have a pain free natural birth that I was hoping for. I feel staying active during pregnancy really helped me attain this goal. Since having Luke a year ago I kept my fitness goals realistic for myself. I knew I wasn’t in the position to pick up where I left off with running marathons so instead I set my mind on running a 5k which I did when he was just three months. After that I focused on speed training and by the time the spring came around I had reached my personal best in a 5k before pregnancy.
Advice for other moms or moms-to-be: My advice for new moms is that motherhood is a new chapter in your life and at first you are not going to have all the time you once did for yourself so set reasonable goals. Make the most of the time you do have, stay positive and know that as the baby grows everything falls into place and you will be back or even better than were you left off.
