First Name: Jaime
Children: Ethan (9), Eli (2)
Your Preferred Form of Exercise: OCR training outside is preferable! We have a mini obstacle course so anytime I can get outside and put my headphones in, I am a happy woman! But when I can’t get outside, I have a ton of fitness DVDs that I can choose from and do one either first thing in the morning, or after the kids go to bed.
Health and Fitness Accomplishment you are Proud of since becoming a mom or when you were a mom-to-be:
I have to say, I feel very proud for finally overcoming my fears and completing my first obstacle race last year. It was the Beach RAID in OOB, Maine. I had been struggling for about a year with my weight and fitness. I finally decided on my 39th birthday that I don’t want to be this person anymore. My little one had just turned two, and I felt it was time to do something about it. I absolutely fell in love with obstacle course racing. No turning back now! I am hooked for as long as my body will allow me to do it.
Advice for other moms or moms-to-be: Enjoy your newborn first and foremost, time goes by so fast. There is plenty of time to get your body back and for fitness. Take it slow. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise 7 days a week to start with. It doesn’t have to be strenuous, you just have to move. I promise you, you will be mentally happier if you just get that 30 minutes a day in. It was a life saver and a life changer for me in more ways than one. When you are ready to dial in your nutrition, start planning and prepping your meals. I found an awesome nutrition program that concentrates on portion sizes, which I needed. I always ate healthy, but never realized how MUCH I was eating.
