Health and Fitness Accomplishment you are Proud of since becoming a mom or when you were a mom-to-be: My proudest fitness accomplishment since becoming a mom is simply getting fit! I had a tendency to always look sporty, but never be sporty. Between figuring out how to be a new mom and keep working full time, I rarely fit in a workout. When my oldest daughter was 18 months old, I signed up for my first couch-to-5k program through my local running store. Since then, I have run numerous 5ks, trained for 10ks and a half-marathon with the store’s group, and continue to be an active participant in their training programs by being a mentor for others who are beginning/restarting their fitness journeys. A second accomplishment I’m very proud of was just this spring when I was 34-weeks pregnant with my third child – I ran a 5k while pushing my two big kids! I didn’t even think about my time because I was so proud that I crossed the finish line!!
Advice for other moms or moms-to-be: Find a group of workout buddies who will keep you accountable – ask a neighbor to walk with you once a week, call your local running store to see if it offers training programs, or grab your dog’s leash!
