Health and Fitness Accomplishment you are Proud of since becoming a mom or when you were a mom-to-be: Taking 1st Place in the 2013 Global Physique Fitness Bikini Competition in the Master’s 41+ Category and 3rd Place in the Open 18+ Category just 14 months after suffering mini-strokes.
Advice for other moms or moms-to-be: Take care of yourselves!!! Do something EACH day that is for no one else but you! It could be as simple as enjoying a cup of tea in total peace and quiet, soaking in the tub, or enjoying the sunset. Practice loving yourself and treating yourself with the kindness and respect that you would a tiny infant or someone dear to you. Self-care is NOT SELFISH! If you don’t take care of yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually, you will have nothing to give to others: your children, your spouse, your friends. Self-care sends a message to others, but most importantly YOUR CHILDREN, that who you are MATTERS! We all matter! And when we love ourselves enough to make our needs important, we establish parameters for how we expect to be treated. Trust me, I learned this lesson the hard way!
