Health and Fitness Accomplishment you are Proud of since becoming a mom or when you were a mom-to-be: When I started triathlons I thought you had to join Athena if you were over 165 lbs. I went into my first triathlon registered as Athena and took 1st. Then I decided for my next I would register as Age Group and again took 1st in my division. Then the rest of the season I would go back and forth and kept placing in either Athena or my age group. I placed in 4 out of 5 triathlons for 2015, taking 5th place by :29 seconds behind the 3rd place winner (who was my bff so that’s ok). I want to be the example that you don’t have to be a certain weight or body type to be a competing athlete.
Advice for other moms or moms-to-be: Exercise, which I refer to as training, is your “me” time. We as moms put our kids first every hour of every day. Make time for yourself. It’s the best example you can set for your kids. You will build confidence in yourself and that will reflect on your kids confidence (especially the young girls). Show them strong is the new beautiful.
