Health and Fitness Accomplishment you are Proud of since becoming a mom or when you were a mom-to-be: Ran 2 half marathons earlier this year.
Advice for other moms or moms-to-be: Honestly it’s so cliché but, “Never say never.” I tried to do couch25k numerous times (By myself) I couldn’t get past week 3. After a week back east visiting my family in December 2014 I found my weight was the highest ever and I wasn’t happy at all. I found a post on my local FB page asking people to join a Couch2Halfmarathon program. All runs are planned we just had to show up. So I did it. The first runs were only 2 miles and I was struggling hard. Around a 16-17 min mile. But after a few weeks it got easier. And by March I was at a mid 12 Min Mile and running 8 miles. I ended up pregnant with #3 and was too sick to run. But when I was cleared in December post C-Section; I jumped right back into running and completed (2) half marathons in April and May. Going for #3 in October and a full in 2017! The best thing is my son runs with me too. And my daughter and I walk or play just dance for exercise. It’s very true when they say exercise makes you happy. The happier you feel about yourself the better your demeanor. I try to never take myself too seriously and just have fun when I run. And this attitude has come through in all aspects all my life since I began my running journey.
