Often times we shop second-hand stores or consignment shops looking for things like furniture or maybe even baby items like strollers or toys. But, had it ever occurred to you to shop for maternity clothes? Being pregnant is a very special time in a woman’s life – it’s a time for a whole new wardrobe as your body starts to change and your belly starts to grow. Maternity clothing items are often expensive and only last you a few months. Then what? Keep them for the next pregnancy? (Providing you are pregnant around the same time of year next time around?)
Meet, Strong Momma Rachael. This work from home mom and personal trainer was blessed with the news of being pregnant with baby #2! While excited and overcome with joy something wasn’t right. “After having my son in 2013 I packed up all my maternity clothes and there they sat, collecting dust in my closet.” she tells us. “This time around I’m pregnant during a completely different season so none of my old stuff works! There are very few places that take maternity clothing for consignment so that’s how this idea came to be!” And voila! Maternity Re-Chic was born!
We got the 411 from Rachael on how you can both purchase from and consign with Maternity Re-Chic.
Q: How does one consign with Maternity Re-Chic if interested?
A: Anyone interested in consigning can either message me directly through Facebook or via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) Local consigners can set up in-person appointments where we will review the items they are interested in listing. Out of state customers can request a USPS label (paid for by Maternity Re-Chic) to submit their items for review. Each consigner is required to keep an inventory log of the items listed for sale which will be reviewed for accuracy prior to any items being accepted by Maternity Re-Chic. We can only accept 30 items at a time per consigner.
Q: How does one go about purchasing from you if interested?
A: Once an item is listed for sale, the purchaser can buy directly from the website and pay using their credit card or PayPal. Once the item has been paid for it will be removed from inventory and mailed the next business day. Local buyers can pay via cash or cashiers check and either choose to have the item shipped to their address or arrange for pick up. We also plan to set up Trunk Shows in the future for local buyers!
Q: Is there anything you will not accept?
A: We accept women’s maternity clothing and accessories only. Must be current style (no more than 3 years old) and in excellent condition. Brand names and designer name a plus, but not required. Items must have size/brand tags in tact. All clothing must be clean, pressed and ready to wear. No rips, tears, stains or signs of excessive wear. Must also be free of pet hair and from a smoke-free home. We reserve the right to refuse any items for any reason. We absolutely do not accept undergarments or bathing suit bottoms.
Thanks Rachael, and Good Luck!
